Doing an online employee check is without a doubt the best way to do an employee check. There are companies out there that will do an employee check for you and tell you the results will be back in 2-3 days. If there is some kind of criminal record the results can come back in 2-3 weeks. This is really true. I had a call just last week from a company that said they were waiting 2-3 weeks for information to come back on a potential new hire. So what do you do in the meantime? Hire the person, tell them you will be back with them in 2-3 weeks or what?? They will probably continue to look for a new job while they are waiting for you to get your act together with their criminal record. This is why I really believe an online employee check is the way to go. The information comes back in a matter of seconds. You can then make a decision about hiring them or not and move on with your business. This 2-3 week return of information is a completely outdated way of doing business.
